" Where Junk Ends and Art Begins..."
Already an accomplished and exhibited artist, in 2004 as the result of his degenerative disability Simon Burnell began to concentrate on his art full time. Missing the hands-on creativeness of his previous career in carpentry and his wife Elaine's obsession with jewellery he added sculpture and jewellery to his portfolio.
However, with the limited working ability of Simon, the concept of commercialism was disregarded in favour of creating lasting pieces of Body Art that were each one of a kind.
To make the art more inspired all materials used have had a previous life which had come to an end..
Previously, they may have been a Copper Tank, a Bread Bin, a Salad Bowl or a battered Antique Silver mustard pot. Each piece has its own provenance.
These pieces of jewellery are one of one, they start life on the drawing board and are then hand designed and handworked by us, all in house.
It can take from a day to weeks to craft some pieces therefore we only sell our pieces at selected venues.
Commissions are undertaken only if time allows.
